First day in Lamu

We flew from Nairobi to Lamu island this morning. From metropolitan African city to rural historical tourist paradise. The 95 degrees and humid is pleasantly broken by the ocean breeze. A short outborad boat ride from the airstrip brought us to downtown Lamu and the strip of shops and restaurants. We wait and eat under a thatched roof at the "best" restaurant on Lamu. Prawns and fries aan a mango shake make for a good meal. I forgot to order only bottled liquid, but am trusting in my xifaxan antibiotic to avoid travellers stomach upset. We will begin medical clinics here tomorrow. This place and this people are beautiful!
